The BEST FOUNDATION I’ve Ever Used?? | Review

GUYS. As a self proclaimed foundation hoarder, this is a big statement. But I think I have found my perfect base. *internally screams* I’ve been hearing about the It Cosmetics CC Cream for years, but for some reason it never really called to me. That being said, it wasn’t until this year I really discovered my love for tinted moisturizers/CC Creams etc. but now that I’ve put it to the test, I just can’t put it down. For the most part I’ve only heard raves regarding this product, and any complaints that I’ve heard are simply that it’s too dewy for a particular skin type. Now, time to get to the nitty gritty: Here’s a quick rundown on my ~face~… Very Pale (I almost always purchase the fairest foundation shade in a collection) Extremely dry in the Winter, but combination in the Summer If I ever get oily, it is around my nose Hyperpigmentation from previous acne scars Occasional pimples, usually on the chin area Now that you have a general sense of my skin …

Review on the NEW Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Tint Foundation!

It’s time for a new foundation review! I’ll be the first to admit that when it comes to my makeup addiction, foundations are the products that do the most damage to my bank account. I’m utterly addicted. However, I justify my foundation addiction by telling my delusional self that it’s all for the blog. Either way, it’s time to get geared up one one of the newest foundations on the market- the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Tint. The Neutrogena Healthy Skin is by far one of my favorite foundations and is a product that I think is highly underrated in the beauty industry. With that being said, I had high hopes for this new addition and I’m here to tell you how everything panned out… First off, here’s a quick run-down on my skin: Very Pale (I almost always purchase the fairest foundation shade in a collection) Extremely dry in the Winter, but combination in the Summer If I ever get oily, it is around my nose Hyperpigmentation from previous acne scars Occasional pimples, usually on …

All Fired Up: My Top 5 Red Lips

Nars Cruella: In my opinion, one of the best lip formulas at Sephora has to be the Nars Velvet Matte Lip Colors. Incredibly creamy, pigmented, and easy to apply, these lippies will last hours on your lips and will leave a perfect matte finish. One of my all time favorite shades in this line has to be “Cruella”. Reds can often be difficult to wear on a daily basis, but I find that this is by far the most neutral, wearable red on the market. Subtle enough without being boring, and vibrant enough without being over the top, Cruella has it all– formula and color.   2. Sephora Cream Lipstain #01 Always Red: For anybody who regularly keeps up with my posts, you will know that my all time favorite liquid lipstick formula has to be the Sephora Cream Lip Stains. This product feels like you’re wearing absolutely nothing, and won’t dry out your lips either. With a wear time of about 8 hours before any fading becomes apparent, the Cream Lip Stains are a …

My Favorite AFFORDABLE Highlighters!

All too often beauty gurus get us hooked on a trend that breaks our banks. Over the past year or so, the trend that has completely taken over the beauty industry has been highlighting, otherwise known as strobing. A technique that gives luminosity to the wearer, highlighting has quickly become a step that just about any beauty lover now refuses to skip. But with new products constantly on the market, it can be hard trying to keep up with the glow without dropping all our dough (I’m sorry, that rhyme was just too easy). Because highlighting can completely transform a makeup look in the best way, I’ve decided to come up with a list of my all time favorite AFFORDABLE highlighters! Lets get glowing…   As of right now, I’ve been leaning towards a more natural “glow from within” type of highlight. And in achieving this look, NOTHING has beat my Wet n’ Wild “bronzer” (it ain’t a bronzer) in the shade Reserve Your Cabana. This product goes far beyond its $5 price tag what with it’s buttery …

True Moringa Lavender Facial Oil

I’m just going to start off by saying this: I know, the idea of putting oil directly on your face is terrifying. But trust me, it has its benefits. Having always struggled with problematic skin, if you were to have asked me a year ago to put an oil on my face I would have straight up laughed in your face. But due to the oh so lovely weather (note the sarcasm) of Boston MA, my skin has been extremely dry and raw this winter, and it needed a little assistance bouncing back. On my quest for a boost of hydration, I discovered the True Moringa Lavender Facial Oil. After doing some intense research, the science behind facial oils really backed up this product. Natural oils have been determined to be the best way to restore the natural moisture and texture of skin, and even aid to the evening out of your skin tone.   The True Moringa Lavender Facial Oil claims to combine anti aging and moisturizing properties of Moringa Oil with the soothing …

Battle of the Beauty Sponges: Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge vs. The Beauty Blender

When it comes to us beauty obsessed lunatics, it’s pretty much a sure thing that we all know the term “beauty blender”. However, should you (somehow) NOT know what the glorious beauty blender is… let me explain. The beauty blender is an edgeless sponge applicator best suited for liquid makeup to blend out with a streak free finish. This sponge features an open cell structure that fills with water when dampened, and allows the sponge to become full so that makeup sits on top of the sponge rather than being absorbed. This allows you to use less product, and achieve a flawless finish. When wet, the beauty blender doubles in size and transforms into a bouncy texture, however it returns to its original size when air dried. While this is a game changing makeup product, and I don’t think I’ll ever live without one again, it kills a part of my soul every time I shell out a whopping $20 on this tiny pink sponge. Ever since the release of the elusive beauty blender, companies …

One Love Organics Konjac Sponge Review

Exfoliating can be a tricky thing. Go too rough- you scratch your face, go too gentle- nothing gets done. For anybody who struggles finding a perfect exfoliator for sensitive skin, I gotchu. For the past 3 months, I have been religiously using what is known as a Konjac Sponge. This cleansing sponge, from the brand “One Love Organics” is made with pure konjac plant fiber, which is known for its ability to detoxify pores while smoothing the skin and ridding it of any makeup and dirt that has accumulated throughout the day. My whole life I have struggled with acne, and use highly invasive treatments that leave my skin dry, flakey, and dehydrated. Because of the state that my skin is often in during the winter (aka a replica of the Sahara Desert), I have always been drawn to harsh exfoliators that would rid my skin of any excess flaking or dry patches. However, by over exfoliating with extremely harsh products, my skin would often be left worse off than it began. When I discovered …

King Contour: The Kevyn Aucoin Contour Book

Say what you want about Kimmy K., but there’s no denying the chick’s got a killer contour. While trends often come and go by the week in the beauty industry, the practice of contouring looks like it’s here to stay. With it’s ability to instantly slim the face and add an extra “umph” of chiseled features, it’s hard to deny the fact that (if done right) contouring can make a huge difference to anyone’s appearance. While some may think it’s excessive, I personally love the look of a slightly sculpted face. Due to the overflowing popularity of contouring, brands left and right have been producing what we now call “contour kits”. The most popular kits have come from Anastasia Beverly Hills, Kat Von D., and Laura Mercier, but there’s one kit that is seriously lacking some much deserved hype. The Kevyn Aucoin Contour Book (Volume II).

I think it’s safe to say that you always want what you can’t have. Well calling all dry skin ladies, your wishes are about to be granted: there is now a matte foundation just for you. Recently I picked up the brand new Maybelline Dream Velvet Soft Matte Hydrating Foundation. This is the newest addition to Maybelline’s range of foundations, and after testing it out for about a week, I feel confident enough in my decisions to tell you guys my thoughts.
