The New Beauty Basics: Glossier.

(Click Here for 20% off Your Glossier Order!)

I don’t know about you, but for me makeup is all about phases. Sometimes I’m in a glam phase, sometimes a girly phase, sometimes a minimalist phase. And right now? Right now I’m in a Glossier phase.

A relatively new brand, Glossier is the off shoot makeup brand of the popular beauty site intothegloss.com. It is this concept that drew me into Glossier to begin with. Why you ask? Because that means that the products created are all brainchildren of beauty lovers. It means that the people behind the company have a true admiration for the beauty industry, and are dedicated to introducing well thought out, quality products to their consumers.

The basics behind Glossier are this: Their main focus and main concern is (as everybody’s should be) skincare. In their introductory “Phase 1” collection, Glossier released a slew of gentle and hydrating skincare products guaranteed to give you a glow. Products included were:

  • The Milky Jelly Cleanser
  • The Soothing Face Mist
  • The Priming Moisturizer
  • The Perfecting Skin Tint
  • The Balm Dotcom

Unlike most beauty brands, the packaging and idea behind these products are all about simplicity. From the bottles to the actual product, Glossier is clean, simple, and cruelty free.

Out of the Phase 1 set, I have tested out the Milky Jelly Cleanser. And I’ll never go back.

I’ve always struggled with my skin and have found that products with a long list of ingredients and with too many artificial ingredients cause major irritation. My two face wash loves have always been the Cetaphil Gentle Face Wash and the Fresh Soy Face Cleanser. And while I love Cetaphil I sometimes feel like it just isn’t getting my skin as clean as it should be. Meanwhile, in regards to the Fresh face wash, it just about rips out my heart so spend that much money on a product I know will only last me so long. After doing research on a number of alternatives, I finally decided that the Milky Jelly Cleanser looked like my best bet.

With an absurdly unique gel-like formula, the Milky Jelly Cleanser is an absolute, soothing dream. It dissolves any excess makeup (though I recommend taking makeup off beforehand) instantly, and leaves your face feeling instantaneously clean but without that harsh tight feeling. Sometimes it can make my face a little dry, but that’s coming from the gal with the driest skin known to mankind. And in that case, I simply use Cetaphil as my morning cleanser and only use the Milky Jelly Cleanser at night rather than both. Overall I think I have found my dream cleanser. There is literally nothing I have to complain about, and I see myself repurchasing this for a very very long time. Here are some of the key ingredients that make this product work:

  • Poloxamer: A strong yet mild cleansing agent used in contact lens solution.
  • Rosewater: 1/4 of the H2O content is replaced with soothing rosewater (bonus: smells great!).
  • Comfrey Root Extract: Contains healing allantoin, which helps prevent stress on skin.
  • Aquaxyl: Refills skin’s water reserves and improves its barrier to prevent dehydration.
  • Pro-Vitamin B5: Powerful, natural moisturizer found in mushrooms and cheese.

The next portion of my review is all about Glossier Phase 2 and the Stretch Concealer. After dominating the skincare world, Glossier began to delve into the depths of the ever tricky Makeup world.

In their newest collection, “Phase 2” the products included are…

  • The Stretch Concealer
  • The Boy Brow
  • Generation G

Because Glossier is all about embracing and enhancing natural beauty (which make LOVE the company as a whole), this newest collection is– in tune with the rest of the brand– all about simplicity. The Phase 2 set includes the bare minimum makeup essentials. Brows, Skin, and Lips. While I’ve heard great things about the Boy Brow, I’ve yet to try it, along with their Generation G lip colors. The Stretch Concealer on the other hand….

I. Love.

A pot concealer, the Stretch Concealer is basically perfect skin in a jar. Extremely emollient, this product is lightweight, medium coverage, and dewy as can be. While that might scare those of you with oily skin, I genuinely think you might still like this because of the way it enhances and perfects your natural skin. My lazy days no longer include a tinted moisturizer- all because this bad boy is all I need. I simply pop this under my eyes and on any imperfections and blend until my face is looking flawless. One thing to note is that for anybody looking for a highlighting concealer or a full coverage concealer, this may not be your guy. But if you need something to simply slap on to look fab, I definitely recommend picking this up.

While I’ve only tried two products from the brand, Glossier is quickly becoming a company that I highly respect for their innovation, their empowerment, and their quality. I love supporting companies that have a good message, good morals, and great products. While those of you who are looking for full glam products may not find them in Glossier, I still think this is a brand that deserves some major love and major recognition for the way their embracing women and beauty.

That’s it for my review on Glossier! I hope you enjoyed and I hope you found some products that you’re interested in! So far I have been loving everything I’ve been trying, and I plan to test out even more.

If you have any questions feel free to ask down below.

Have a great day,

-Love, Lieve
