From Preparation H, to Milk of Magnesia, needless to say there are a lot of crazy things people put on their faces in the name of beauty.
While many beauty trends are simply just that- trends, there are certain absurd rituals that actually work. A few months ago, beauty guru Nikkie Tutorials added something new to that list- the Nivea Men Post Shave Balm. After hearing Nikkie rave about this balm as a primer in essentially all of her (fabulous) makeup tutorials, I had to give it a go.
Get ready to embrace your masculine side ladies. We’re diving in.
I purchased this balm around mid-August and have been using it everyday since, so by now I feel I have a pretty firm grasp on my opinions.
When you initially open it up, you’re gonna be a bit shocked. It does have a strong manly odor, but this fades quickly and won’t follow you around all day (plus at about 5 bucks, you really can’t complain).
The main thing Nikkie says this product has going for it is its ingredients. With the second most used ingredient being glycerine, the products you put on top of this “primer” will adhere and stick to your skin.
As you apply this to your face and rub it in, you can actually feel the product become tacky and somewhat sticky on your face. It has a cooling, milky consistency that is quite liquidy and easy to blend in with the tips of your fingers. I found that after the application of the balm, my skin was noticeably more smooth and prepared for my next beauty steps.
Though Nikkie is a strong advocate for those with oily skin, I have incredibly dry and flaky skin and cannot put this magic little bottle down. I can genuinely say that my makeup has never EVER lasted longer than when I use this as my primer.
I have dry, acne prone skin, so I’m generally used to seeing my foundation break up and flake throughout the day. While that is inevitable after a point, I notice that when I use this I get at least a couple more hours out of my foundation than I normally would. And on top of my foundation lasting longer, I noticed a significant difference in how the rest of my makeup went on as well. While I’m not a huge “powder user,” I’m a sucker for contour and blush, which I use in my everyday makeup routine. While most powder products tend to fade relatively quickly throughout the day, the wear time of my powder makeup on top of this primer actually astounded me.
Sculpted and rosy all day people. All. Day.
And for any skeptics or people with concerns out there- this is a dermatologically tested product that is completely safe to put on your face (it is a shave balm guys) and is safe for those of use with sensitive skin.
All in all, I am pleased to tell you that I am 100% on board with this bandwagon guys. Out of all the primers I’ve ever tried, this is really the only one I have been completely impressed with.
10 out of 10! 5 stars! A +!
Whatever awards there are, the Nivea Men Post Shave Balm deserves them all.
Stay looking fresh and fabulous guys! Hope you have an awesome day 🙂
