NYFW is basically a makeup lover’s heaven. There’s no way around it.
After stalking the web, magazines, newspapers, and basically anything having to do with this fashion filled week, I began to notice a series of trends that were popping up all over the runways. So, for today’s piece, I decided to break down the best of the best and dissect the beauty trends flourishing at Fashion Week.
Color Blocked Makeup
As sleek and chic as an all black outfit is, there’s no denying the fact that color makes a statement. And after looking at all the photos from this previous NYFW, its seems as if the fashion gurus of the world are catching on. Seen on the runways of Jeremy Scott, Honor, and Peter Som, color blocked makeup was without a doubt one of the biggest (and most successful) beauty trends. Eye catching, young, and vibrant, this is one trend that I hope to see in daily life during Spring 2015.
Ok, this one’s a bit of a cheat. Graphic liner in fashion shows is by no means a new thing. But there’s just somethin’ about it that keeps me intrigued. While it’s definitely a less wearable trend, you have to appreciate the skill and artistry that goes into creating such perfection. This dramatic look was seen on catwalks such as Fendi, Nanette Lepore, and Versace. Though I don’t necessarily see myself spending hours everyday creating this precise and perfect look, I for sure plan to rock some white liner in this coming Spring season.
Sometimes simplicity is key. This concept is perfectly illustrated in the fashion shows of Giles, Derek Lam, and Diane Von Ferstenberg. Hazy shadows can add anything from romance, to mystery, and can be done with a variety of different colors. Dark and hazy makeup is perfect for a sultry date night look, while using light and fresh colors screams sensuality, and elegance. Simple yet limitless.
We all know that brows have to be #onfleek. But from the looks of the makeup of NYFW, the definition of “on fleek brows” is changing. This past year, structured, defined, and carved out brows have been all the rage. However, companies such as Prada and Leigh Lezark seem to be moving towards a more natural, bushy brow. One thing’s for sure- if this trend catches on, my mornings are gonna move a whole lot quicker!
Ok everyone, that’s it for my take on the beauty trends at NYFW Spring 2015! Overall, I absolutely LOVED everything I saw and cannot wait to start rocking some of these trends myself!
I hope you’re all having a fantastic day!
